It’s standard practice for Gamelink to offer video-on-demand versions of the DVDs they carry, so when they picked up Marie and Jack: A Hardcore Love Story they sent over a VoD contract as well. It seemed pretty risk-free and straightforward; offering a reasonable cut of the revenues and the option to cancel at any time. I signed it and send it back, but didn’t imagine it would amount to anything more than a nice meal out every month or two.

Well I don’t know what happened, but VoD viewing has shot up in the past few weeks. Not to a pay-the-health-insurance-premiums level (a key small business metric!) but respectable and growing. Is it price point? ($10 for one viewing vs. $25 for unlimited viewing plus the interactive features.) Or is it not having to worry about your letter carrier or spouse finding out you bought a dirty movie?

In any case, it’s nice that we can offer people a way to see Marie and Jack at a reduced level of risk (be it personal or financial).
