New York Perverts’ Saloon

Previously I fretted publicly over the prospect of writing a 75 word bio for the blog reading I’ll be participating in, and was promptly (and rightly) chastised by one of the organizers that if I could find the words to fret on my blog, I could certainly find the words for the bio.

Fair enough. Here it is:

Tony Comstock came to New York City in the early 90’s as a photographer and writer, hoping for fame and fortune. Over the course of a dozen or so years, he managed to find a wife, a home, a family, and most recently, minor celebrity as a filmmaker. His 2006 release, “Damon and Hunter: Doing it Together” explores and celebrates the physical and emotional relationship of adult performers and real-life off screen couple Damon Demarco and Hunter James.

I have been fretting privately too, fretting about what I should read. I am not intimidated by public speaking, in fact I rather like it. But I am terrible at reading aloud. I can barely struggle through bedtime books for my children, let alone anything more dense. And my blog posts are not especially titillating either, so there’s the prospect of me stumbling through my own self-indulgent, not especially sexy writing while breaking into a sweat. Fun!

With the help of a friend I have managed to come up with three finalist. With the proviso that any of them would need a little re-writing to be read out of context, I invite you, dear readers, to offer your opinion on what I should inflict on the good people of Galapagos.

I don’t know what form at the readings will take - ie if there’ll be discussion time after each?

More Grumpy Old Men - I think this a powerful writing, it captures general ideas on sex and film and provides your very personal perspective - that seems to fit well with the theme and I can imagine it being read to good effect. It’d open up some interesting discussion.

Welcome Real Sex - I like this one a lot- how could I not? :) Although you could easily substitute a whole bunch of names perhaps - I dunno, it speaks to bloggers about blogging and the power of doing so, it has that slightly historical perspective too - the where things have come from angle. Yep, I like it .

I think the “Porn Monster” would possibly need the most contextulaising and is a little off the “telling tales of their sex lives in this City” theme.

Just wear the leather pants. There’s nothing like a 72 y.o. cat-loving spinster in leather pants. The words will just be icing on your jizz-bizz cake.
