Sex is a sexy does

Friday, October 17th, 2008

I’m not the only one who’s pleased image I made last Wednesday:

Like every other woman out there, sometimes I think I’m hot shit and sometimes I feel like a walking bean bag. I know when I’m looking sexy, I know when I’m feeling sexy, but one thing I could never know is what it is like to be a man looking at me. I’ll never be able to look at myself with that “male gaze.” Seeing myself in the mirror is not the same as seeing myself through the eyes of someone who wants to tear my clothes off and shove their dick into one or more of my orifices.

Yeah, I’m seeing it now.
You can read the rest of Tilda’s post about our shoot on her blog, Fuck: A Love Story.
I am just at the very beginning of this exploration. If you’re a woman 36-42 years of age, live in New York, or will be traveling through New York and would like to help me explore my “gaze” in a consensual, non-transactional context, please drop me a line at [tony at comstockfilms dot com]. Posing will range, by agreement between model and photographer, from semi-nude and/or semi anonymous to explicit and fully identifiable. (Plain english, we decide together how much of your face and twat show.)

And the winner is…

Many thanks to the Always Aroused Girl for announcing my call for models on her blog, and sending so many visitors over here to ComstockFilms.com. For each commenter on the post, there were about 100 visits, which translates into a nice healthy bump in traffic over the weekend. Maybe some of them are bloggers too, and will help get the word out.

We have a winnner in the DVD giveaway: Randi, who blogs at If You Can’t Say Something Nice…Come Sit by Me. Randi will be getting a copy of XANA & DAX: WHEN OPPOSITES ATTRACT. X&D was our second “Real Life, Real People, Real Sex” documentary, and a copy of it will be going out to Randi tomorrow!

The other winner is yours truly. I’ve receive quite a few queries, and in fact have my first (very exploratory) shoot later this Wednesday. I haven’t made an erotic image of any woman other than my wife Peggy in a long, long time, and I am actually a little nervous, but excited too!

Tony Comstock Needs Women (Vocation vs. Avocation)

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Throughout my professional life I’ve always had avocational side projects. To an artist, side projects are what an R&D lab is to a technology company; a place where inquiry can be conducted free from expectation of (profitable) result. These films of mine - MARIE & JACK, XANA & DAX, etc. started as an avocational side project. Pure inquiry. The simple desire to see the images in my head realized.

These films are no longer a side project (to put it mildly.) Making them, and then bringing them to the world has become an all-encompassing obsession, with (if I let it) a virtually unlimited capacity to devour my time. I have not made a single creative or professional decision that wasn’t these films in perhaps four years. I have not made a single avocational image since the Summer of 2001, back when we shot MARIE & JACK.

It’s time for that to change.

As noted in my last post, I have images of women rolling around in my brain. As these images are unrealized, the only way to explain them is with a series of (possibly) unrelated thought:

I love the look and craft in Playboy of the late 60s and early 70s, but the obsession with youth and perfection is off putting. And I loathe the gynophobia. Being properly socialized, I’m more turned on by women who are age-appropriate for me. Also, because I am properly socialize, I love women’s cunts.

I want to like Abby Winters, with it’s sense enthusiasm and sponteniety, but my heart breaks a little whenever I see how digital photography renders light rolling over a fleshy hip. And I stopped caring about the gender of the photographer back around 1988, when I realized there wasn’t really any (gender informed) difference between the images made by Hank Londoner and Suze Randall.

So, with that rambly preamble, here’s the call for models:

CALL FOR MODELS
